Abstract
an integrated diagnostic system has to be developed to simulate clinical diagnostic and treatment processes with five strategic factors allowing intuitive operations:
i) Enhanced diagnostic capability through the integrated information of image and clinical data.
ii) Implementation of ergonomically designed user-friendly interface.
iii) Open system to support several end-user¡¯s need
iv) Clinical factors influencing on the diagnosis and treatment planning
v) Multidisciplinary treatment protocol
In this developed system, users can search patient files by name, registration number, diagnostic result and other important information summary, which are interfaced with head tags of DICOM files. In the system to support clinical practice, the main frame displays basic patient profiles, all types of dental radiographic images compliant to DICOM conformance statement and the list of previous treatments in one page. The clinician can take radiographs and interpret the digitized radiographic images by an image-processing module located on the toolbar to enhance diagnostic capability. Any clinical modules for clinical practice can be plugged into the system as a component and can be used as a tool.

The integrated system for DICOM file provides paperless and filmless hospital environments by the seamless integration and management of patient¡¯s history, several clinical data and clinical images.
